This Pattachitra painting describes the Rasa Leela of Lord Krishna with Gopikas at Gokul.
Rasa means nectar, which symbolizes sweetness and “Leela” means dance or involvement. Lord Krishna danced with Gopikas and Radha who were so indulged in love and devotion for Lord Krishna.
According to the scriptures and legends, Lord Krishna the incarnation of Lord Visnu also considered as the Symbol of Love/Kama. Lord Krishna played his flute in the companion of the Gopis or Gopikas of Vrindavan. The term "Raas Leela" roughly means Dance of Devine Love. The dance form tells the story of Krishna, Radha, and the Gopis, and is considered Krishna's favorite thing to do. The Raas Leela is an important part of the Hindu culture. When the dancers perform the Raas Leela, it symbolizes the spiritual love for Lord Krishna.
